UNDER PRESSURE LEAK SEALING SERVICE

What is under pressure leak sealing
It’s exactly what it says. It is the process of sealing pressurized leaks while under continuous pressure to avoid costly shut downs or unscheduled maintenance.

What kind of leaks can be sealed using this technology
Just about any kind of leak can be sealed using this process with pressures rating up to 7500 psig and temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. Also under pressure leak sealing works great for sealing vacuum leaks.

What are some typical applications for under pressure leak sealing
There are many different applications for which this process is used but the most common are as follows:

Valve Packings
This is the most common application for under pressure leak sealing services for many reasons. These valve packings leaks can be repacked on-line very quickly and economically without shutdown or having to isolate the valve itself. The sealant used to seal these leaks is very similar to the original packing material supplied from the valve manufacturer and will never harden or ruin the valve. Some common applications for these valve-packing repairs are steam, superheated steam, water, condensate, chemical, vacuum, air, or most any process. If you have any questions about your packing leaks please call the Colt information center at 1-800-229-2658 for more information.
Leak Sealing

Flange Leak
Flange leaks are an unfortunate common appearance in many facilities and can be easily sealed using the under pressure leak sealing technology. They’re many different ways to achieving a seal on a flange depending on the gap of the flange and also temperature and pressure. Due to the fact the most all flanges are built to standard sizes a two-piece flange clamp can be installed and then injected to seal your leak.

Colt stocks these standard size flange clamps for flanges rated 150#, 300#, and also 600# with sizes including ½” thru 24” on the shelf. If you have a flange that is leaking over 24” in size, measurements can be taken and a flange clamp can be built in less than 24 hours in most cases.

Another way to seal a flange leak is to perform a wire wrap technique. This process is great for low-pressure leaks and also more of a short-term fix. Basically a wire in put into the place of the gap of the flange and then sealant is injected into the void between the original gasket and the installed piece of wire. If you have any questions about your leaking flange call the Colt information center at 1-800-229-2658 for more information.

Leak Sealing

90 Or 45 Degree Elbow Leaks

Another common appearance for many facilities some time or another is leaking elbows. Nonetheless these elbows take a lot of abuse and eventually wear out in many cases. These elbow leaks are a simple fix just requiring a Colt manufactured elbow enclosure to ensure a 100% seal. These elbow enclosures are made to the standard pipe sizes and are made in both short radius and long radius for the 90 Degree applications. Once the enclosures are installed they are injected to perform a 100% guaranteed seal. Colt stocks these standard size elbow enclosures up to 24” in size. These enclosures can also have either a perimeter seal or a Injectable seal depending on the requirements. If you have any questions about your leaking elbows please call the Colt information center at 1-800-229-2658 for more information.

Leak Sealing

Weld Leaks / Pinholes
Yet another common appearance for many facilities is Weld Leaks or Pinhole leaks. These leaks can usually start off small but usually get worse very rapidly. Using a Colt manufactured straight-line enclosure can easily repair these leaks. These enclosures are manufactured to the various pipe sizes and can be installed and injected very quickly to avoid further problems. As you can see below these straight-line enclosures are great for many different applications with the same enclosure. One of these enclosures can be used for a straight line, 90 Degree elbow, a “T” or a one bore application, just by changing out the middle inserts. We call these interchangeable enclosures MME enclosures. The MME enclosures are good up to 2” pipe and then we move on to our more traditional, standard enclosures.
If you have any questions about your weld leaks / pinhole leaks please call the Colt information center at 1-800-229-2658 for more information.

Line Kills for Bypassing Valves
A line kill is a perfect solution for valves that won’t seat properly and you must have all flow stopped. Sealant is injected into the seat of the valve to provide a safe seal and to stop the flow. The sealant will remain in the systems and is usually caught in a drain if the valve is opened again. A line kill is a great alternative to isolating or even shutting down the system if needed. If you have any questions about your bypassing valves please call the Colt information center at 1-800-229-2658 for more information.

All Other Applications
There are many other applications that under pressure leak sealing works great
on but these are just the most common. If you think you might have an application that could be sealed on-line
